The term “Managed IT Services” may be a newer one for your business. Traditionally, most small to mid-sized businesses either outsource occasional IT-related tasks to a local company or they rely solely on their internal IT staff to handle everything technology-related. The good news? There is a better, more cost-efficient way to ensure your IT needs are being completely taken care of.

After attending several networking events, 3 common themes (or myths) cropped up, which I’d like to share with you.
Most companies that implement Managed IT Services continue employing an IT department to handle many IT-related tasks. In fact, it’s a huge benefit to have an internal IT team work closely with a Managed IT Service Provider, to ensure accurate information is being communicated to other members of the company, and any internal suggested upgrades or changes are implemented when necessary.
A Managed Service Provider does not need to take the place of an internal staff, they are simply an outside, qualified team who can focus on issues from a Birdseye view, allowing the internal IT department to focus on the daily technology issues every company requires.
Companies are increasingly relying on outside providers for part of their IT needs, MSPs generally complement rather than replace internal IT.
Instead, especially in larger companies, bringing an MSP into the mix frees up existing IT staff to focus on more strategic projects.
It elevates the IT staff and brings them out of the shadows within the organization and allows them to focus on a custom app dev project or cloud initiative — something highly strategic.

It could also be the case that the company has no dedicated IT team and employees are forced to compensate by performing technical tasks that are outside of their core area of expertise, slowing productivity and preventing the business from being able to grow.
