Business Process Outsourcing

Project Description

Capita supported the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) for Zurich Life Assurance during Q1 2006. This was in-line with Zurich’s introduction of 2 new pension and life assurance products into the market place for Q3 2006.

The project not only involved the outsourcing of the business process to Capita, but also the introduction of a revised pension product and a new life assurance product.

The timescales were demanding and QAIST were engaged to manage the UAT test phase for both product types.

The engagement was ever so much more challenging then previously experienced as we had to support both Zurich and Capita through a very challenging time.

The team we introduced consisted of 5 commercial test analysts & defect co-coordinator alongside 15 business users which encompassed the end to end business (incl. Finance staff)

The test scenario had to include the new business process as well as the introduction of 2 new web based applications.

We supported the transition of the work from the UAT test phase into operational readiness, where we were able to bring our experience forward in ensuring that the roll out to the remaining Capita staff was effective.

Working closely with the IT test teams, we defined a test strategy what would clearly define the transition of application code from the Integration test environment into the UAT environment and how the code migration would continue until all integration issues were resolved.

The engagement was challenging in that not only did we have to support the transition of business process to Capita but also had to support the remaining processes within Zurich that were still required to support their business objectives.

  • Supported both parts of the business outsourcing
  • Operational readiness criteria defined
  • Easier transition to senior business staff back into operations
